Fat Dissolving

Fat dissolving injections work by breaking down fat cell membranes in targeted areas, after which the body naturally processes and eliminates the released fat through the lymphatic system. This treatment is designed for small, stubborn pockets of fat that do not respond well to diet and exercise, such as under the chin, jowls, or small areas on the body. Results develop gradually over 4-8 weeks as the body processes the fat, and most people need 2-4 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart to achieve their desired outcome.

Treatment

The treatment involves multiple injections of a solution (typically deoxycholic acid) into the fat deposit using a fine needle. I will mark out the treatment area and inject the solution in a grid pattern to ensure even distribution. The number of injections depends on the size of the area being treated, and whilst the procedure can be uncomfortable, it typically takes only 15-30 minutes.

Aftercare

Swelling is the most common and noticeable side effect, which can be quite significant and may last 5-7 days. The treated area will feel tender and may appear bruised, with firmness or numbness that can persist for several weeks as the fat breaks down. You might experience temporary lumpiness or unevenness as the area heals, which typically improves as the swelling subsides.
